Super easy paper chickens
Here you get my recipe for very easy Easter chickens.
They are so easy that you can make them with kids – a nice kid-grown up craft project for Easter.
The small child can cut out coloured circles and wings, a big child can take part in everything – and the adults can join, support and help.
I’ve made a list of materials and some free prints for you.
You also get an instructional video that is divided into 3 parts.

Make super easy Easter chickens

List of materials
You will need:
- Coloured cardboard, coloured paper, printed paper or printed parts for chickens. Find links below, the chickens and the yellow print are links to the pdf
- Scissors
- Punch – small circle approx. 2.5 cm in Ø, large circle approx. 4.5 cm in Ø and a heart – or another figure that can be used as a wing. (Ø = diameter)
- Markers, sharpies, or pens
- Glue stick, double-sided tape, and adhesive pads/thick double-sided tape
- Steel wire, copper wire or other thin metal wire
- Sewing thread if you want the chickens to hang
- Decoration: feathers, eyes, pomp poms, sequins, pipe cleaners …
The chicken parts you can find here, are in different shades of yellow and you can mix them all.

I’ve split the video instructions into 3 parts, so you get 3 smaller videos instead of one long one.
And I’ve gathered all 3 instructional videos in one playlist, you can also choose whether it is video 1, 2 or 3 you want to watch.
Part 1-3 in one playlist
Part 1: Cut the chicken
In the first video, you’ll get instructions on how to make the bodies for the super easy chickens.
First, I show you how to make chicken bodies out of coloured cardboard, coloured, or printed paper, I use punches and scissors.
Then you will get instruction for chickens made from the printed chicken parts – here you can use punches and/or scissors.
Part 2: Steel wire chicken legs
In the second video, I’ll show you how to make legs.
First, I use soft black wire, you can also use copper wire or other coloured thin metal wire.
They are twisted double-threaded legs with head support.
Next, I’ll show you how to make easy legs of plain steel wire that are stiffer than the coloured steel wire, so they are not twisted.
Materials: use metal wire – coloured or plain, round pliers and wire cutters or a combination plier.
Part 3: Finish your chicken
In the last video, you get instructions for how to make the chicken.
First, I make the coloured cardboard/paper chicks that were punched out, I give them the simple legs.
Second, it is the printed chickens and they get the twisted legs.
Easter garlands
If you don’t have any steel wire at home – or if you want to make hanging Easter decorations, you can use the prints and make chicken Easter garlands.
You can also hang the chicks individually and decorate some fine spring branches – or hang the chickens on the wall.
I’ve shown you some simple chickens – but I’m sure you and your family can come up with some great ideas.
Use these methods, your imagination, the tools and materials you have at home and make your own versions or brand-new chickens!
